Learn to Swim
The BWSC hosts its annual Learn-to-Swim Program
during the Month of April.
There are two, two-week sessions (consisting of 10 lessons each) offered to children age 6 and older.
All Lessons will be held at Baldwin High School.
There is no more than a 1/6 ratio of instructor/children and
Children are grouped by ability and not age.
Introduction to Comptetitive Swim Program
The Baldwin Whitehall Swim Club, Inc. (BWSC) offers Introduction to Competitive Swimming Clinics twice a year. These clinics are conducted over a two week period, and swimmers who are considering participation on a competitive swim team practice with the Club through a one-hour workout each day with a concentration on building endurance, developing proper stroke technique, and an introduction to drills. The first opportunity for potential swimmers to participate is early September each year and a second clinic is offered in early May.
Qualifications for participation in the Intro Program include the ability to swim freestyle and backstroke the length of a 25 yard pool for a minimum one-hour practice each day. At the end of the Clinic, swimmers are either invited to join the team or provided with suggestions for future development through further swimming instruction. The Introduction to Competitive Swimming Clinics should not be considered swim lessons.
